Private water in CO is a ridiculous concept. Just because someone owns land shouldn’t give them the right to lock up the water and keep everybody out. CO needs to give fishermen access to the water like UT and MT.

  2. Jemmcanna Says:

I too am fed up with some out of state company or arrogant SOB closing off the access to Colorado fishing.

  3. erkod Says:

true that! here in texas, we arent aloud to go fly fishing on most parts of the guadelupe river because all the land is owned by other people. It makes it harder for people to get the winter trout down here.

here in n. carolina. while i was drifting down a creak some guy came up to me and told me that i couldn’t fish on his side of the creak. which had me puzzled and disappointed because i was planning a fishing expedition down the creak into a river called Rocky River.

These are just stockers anyway. people with too much money being held by the hand to catch a fake fish. It’s the adult version of a catch by the inch pond. Yes, private property in Colorado is ridiculous.

I live in colorado, and I completely agree with TootieFrutie100. I cant access a lot of water because I can’t afford to buy my way into these so called clubs. ” Wig-Wam” near deckers.

i think you should have a passage right away to all the rivers in the united states even if it is just five feet on bothsides of the river ,this way you can get around trees and brushs piles.unfortunitly peop[le dont respect other peoples properties

I never heard of recent laws with the midle of the stream, river, or creek as the property line/ boundary line.

True. Years ago I used to bring a cattleman/rancher/farmer/or whatever the man did for a living out west a nice treat like a gallon of NY State maple syrup at breakfast time. Funny, I had no problems in 70′s. Things have changed. That worked for hunting pheasant in Nebraska, too.

@alright4u is there any way we can fight this . in michigan you have a 5ft allowance and also a law against tawnting a hunter or fisher man.

    44. I agree with respecting a man’s/ woman’s property. Are you limited in time/by occupation to the near Denver area? I have a friend or two in CO who may let you fish on their property. I ran into the same same in Wyoming in 98. I used to fish the Green, the Wind River, up to the Snake and west, back to Yellowstone, then east to Cody WY. Landowners have had people trash their place.

  13. alright4u Says:

I agree with all of you. I used to fish the Eagle River in 1970. Then I fished all the way down to darn near Leadville without seeing a soul. What is that area like now? How about Telluride, Durango, Montrose?
