I think that after already losing a good fish(hook came out) Dave was worried about putting too much pressure on the fish and maybe losing this one too. I can tell you that although smaller than the previous fish, it was still bloody strong!
Have you watched ‘Dry Fly Delights Part3′ yet?
…and 10 HOURS later, I’m still giggling! I’ve had a word with Dave, and whilst he concedes the shorts may have to go, the “Freddy Mercury” moustache is here to stay!
I don’t understand why people who like to fish don’t want to preserve our fisheries for the future generations. Though I suggest catch and release, I think if your gonna keep fish, only to keep enough for one meal. You don’t always have to go for the limit.
i agree with you but, trout and especially salmon populations are going down and you dont want to kill them all. i do keep some trout, but i release most of them. and also, people dont want to show the fish getting killed on tape.
My friend, if we all did as you suggest then very soon it would be a waste of time going to the river as all the fish would be GONE! Personally, of the 200 or so trout I catch every year I probably keep 1 or 2 to eat. “Catch and release” is practised by most fly anglers; the joy is catching, not keeping!
Nice work Andy – that’s fishing in my old backyard!
Brings back some memories that’s for sure.
I’ll have to get around to posting a few clips from this year myself. I’ll let you know too when my DVD’s is close to hitting the shelves and send you a copy. Cheers, Mike.
Falling in that water would have been good as it looked very warm and a nice wee cold bath would have been very welcoming Great vid guys love the place and fish !
The river on ‘Dry Fly rainbows’ was one of the east coast braided rivers, of which there are several. The rivers on ‘Dry Fly Delights 1&2′ are some of our secret wilderness spots.
Yep, that was 6 pounds and the one that got off was bigger! Keep an eye on the website, Ill be posting up a ‘taster’ of vol.2 in the near future, stillediting it at the moment…

Why don’t you just try to reel them in fast than going slow and waiting for them to get a mile down stream? Other than that, GREAT FISH!
